Testimonials From Parents
Burr Elementary School
Jonathan Burr Elementary School is an exceptional school. We have a wonderful environment where children learn academic skills as well as social skills. Not only do the children learn math and reading, much of which is taught and reinforced by our state-of-the-art programs, but we also have an amazing Japanese program that broadens the students’ learning spectrum. I love and respect the administrators and their dedication to providing the best education for my family and the other children that attend Burr School.

Drummond Magnet School
Drummond Montessori is an exceptional program, making a Chicago public school a top choice for our children’s education. The Montessori approach to teaching the materials fits perfectly in our family lifestyle. Our children have developed confidence and pride in their schoolwork. They are excited to go to school every day. And we are proud to be sending them to Drummond.

Roque de DuPrey Elementary School
I like the school system at DuPrey because they make learning positive, not boring, and fun for children so they can fall in love with the way they teach. DuPrey is a math/science school and before my students went here, I didn’t like science or understand it, but after my family came to the Family Math/Science Night, my entire perspective changed. I really enjoyed all of the activities, games, and how they made it easy for parents to understand what to do in terms of helping our children learn.

DuPrey is also a small school; because the school is small, students get more attention and the staff knows students by name and pays attention to students’ individual needs. Therefore, students aren’t known as a number, they are known by name and it’s a face that goes with that name. I am very happy with that. I can go to work with no problem, knowing that the adults are really caring for my children.

Lafayette Elementary School
I like that the teachers are compassionate. They work together to come up with strategies when it comes to kids’ problems in everyday life. There is an open door policy. I can meet with my child’s teacher and check on her progress at any time that the teacher is free. The administration works with the parents and any ideas that we may have for our children and our school. The administration also works closely with the teachers to make sure that our children get the best possible education.

Lozano Elementary School
I think it is very important that we have a World Language Program, Spanish is especially important here at Lozano because the students have the opportunity to continue to learn about the Spanish culture, including reinforcing and learning the important values of the culture. It is also important for the students to be able to pass those values on to future generations.

Mitchell Elementary School
The writing program at Mitchell school has really inspired the children to be creative. My sons were never interested in school, but when creative writing was introduced, I watched their and their classmates’ attitudes towards school start to change. They became more involved and started to enjoy writing. The students are positive; they take pride in their work and themselves. When the students perform their poems, you can see the enjoyment in their faces. Many have even been published in city and national anthologies. I am proud that my children attend Mitchell.

- C. Miller

Mitchell’s Literature and Writing program encourages students to be a part of what they are reading and write poems based on their daily experiences. We get to know the deepest side of our kid’s heart. To me, that’s the best part.

Talcott Fine Arts and Museum Academy
As a parent of two, I like to expose my children to different learning experiences. Talcott Fine Arts Academy and Museum has helped make this possible by offering various classes both during and after school. In addition, the partnership with the Chicago museums has made learning a hands-on experience that helps reinforce what the children are learning in the classroom. Talcott is doing a great job of getting children excited about learning.

- K. Roque

I love to come and help out at the school because here I feel like I’m with family. I love the fact that there is an emphasis on the fine arts because it’s what I love! From the academic perspective, since I arrived here (approximately five years ago) with my children, I saw the dedication of the teachers towards the students and their efforts to encourage the children to learn and improve.
